EVENTS IN EARLY 2015

ARTipolo conducted another group exhibit, “Haplos sa Puso”, at Robinson’s Place in Antipolo City on 12 to 28 February 2015, in coordination with Mr. Mariano Bacani, Head of the Antipolo City Tourism Office

On 21 February, ARTipolo conducted an on-the-spot painting contest at Sumulong Park for students, out of school youths and faculty members of different schools. This was followed by a three-day Art Seminar for Teachers at the SM City Masinag

Presentation of Jeepney Design Contest Plaque to Mayor of Antipolo City

At the flag ceremony in Antipolo City Hall on 23 February 2015, ARTipolo presented to Mayor Jun Ynares III, the Second Place Plaque it received for its “Kapistahang Pilipino” jeepney entry at Resorts World Manila’s Pinoy Ultimate. Jeepney Design Challenge in 2014.It was displayed at Sumulong Parkon 22 to 23 February

Mural for Erchwon Center

ARTipolo began on 23 April 2015, its work on a large mural at the premises of the Erehwon Center

For The Arts in Quezon City, on the request of Mr. Rafael Rivera Benitez, Chairman and CEO of Erehwon Artworld Corporation. The mural design depicts Philippine Festivals held from northern to southern Philippines.

On 26th of October 2015, Malaysian TV Network took footages of ARTipolo members continuing their work on the mural at Erehwon Center for the Arts, for showing on Asian Discovery on cable channel.

Design Contest

In the May 2015 celebration of the Sumaka (Suman, Mangga, Kasuy) Festival in Antipolo City, Barangay Inarawan commissioned ARTipolo to design and create its float for the Inter-Barangay Float Design Contest

ARTipolo Member Chosen as One of the 10 Grand Prize Winners of NCCA Painting Contest

ARTipolo member Michael Briquillo was awarded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts last 12 September 2015, with one of the ten Grand Prizes in the Bayaning-Bayan Painting Contest. The winning painting entitled, “Tuwaang Bagobo’s Lightning Rider”, an oil painting size 24 inches high and 18 inches wide.

Like all the other 9 winning artists, Michael has also been commissioned by the NCAA to create two additional oil paintings on other heroes in Philippine folklore.The NCAA is taking all the paintings on a tour in Philippine schools nationwide. A primer to be published by the NCAA on the mythical heroes depicted in the paintings will become a reference material for the teaching of Philippine culture in Philippine school.

29 Monsters of Philippine Mythology for Halloween Display at Lores Country Plaza

Mr. Lorenzo Juan Sumulong tasked ARTipolo to re-create 29 monsters of Philippine mythology, for the Halloween display at Lores Country Plaza in Antipolo City on 27 to 30 October 2015. Designs for the monsters were created by Michael Briquillo based on research data. Descriptions of each monster in both Filipino and English texts have been provided, for the information of the general public, and to educate the youth. GMA 7’s “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho”showed on 25th of October 2015, a segment on ARTipolo’s creation process for the 29 monsters

ARTipolo Exhibit at Chef Jessie, November 2015

ARTipolo is holding a group exhibit called “ARTipolo”, at Chef Jessie in Rockwell Club, Amorsolo Tower, Makati City on 6 to 30 November 2015

The exhibit opened on 6 November with a ribbon - cutting and inspirational messages from the Guests of Honor

Quezon City Experience Museum Commissioned ARTipolo forJeepney Design

The Quezon City Government commissioned ARTipolo, to make the design for an Original Vintage Melford Jeepney, which will become part of the permanent collection of memorabilia of the newly-opened Quezon City Experience (QCX) Museum. ARTipolo undertook the project for one week in November 2015, embellishing its portrayal of the theme ‘‘Jeepney scenarios’’ with Okir designs

Furniture Company Commissioned ARTipolo for Baguio City Booth Design Contest

The furniture company Disenio Mastercraft, commissioned ARTipolo to create in one week,

a life-size, paper mache image of the hero B-Max, from the movie Big Hero 6. The image forms part of the Company’s booth for the Booth Design Contest in Baguio City on 19-22 November 2015,

which prescribed the portrayal of heroes from movies.

ARTipolo Logo Included In 9 Philippine Logos, Recognized Among 10,000 Best Logos in the World

The logo used by ARTipolo, a leaf of the Tipulo tree after which Antipolo City was named, has been listed by a UK-based brands and logos survey, as one of 9 Philippine brands/logos recognized to be among the best 10,000 brands/logos in the world. 400,000 entries worldwide were submitted to the competition, including 1,000 entries from the Philippines.

Paintings of ARTipolo Members in Hallmark Collection for 2015

The painting of Michael Briquillio, “Parol Ang Tanglaw sa Gabi”, is included in the Hallmark Collection of Christmas cards for 2015.

The painting of Jun Tagaro, “Philippine Festivities”, is the featured painting for the month of June, in the Hallmark Calendar for 2016

The painting of Dyna Quizon-Ondoy, “Palaro sa Fiesta”, is the featured painting for the month of September, in the Hallmark Calendar for 2016. The artists donated their works for the above-mentoned Hallmark products, sales proceeds of which will benefit indigent haemophilia
